here's my entry for the contest. It's mostly hand-drawn, with a few digital tweaks. Done in Pentel Zebra mechanical pencil, prisma markers and colored pencils, uniball pen on strathmore bristol board. Tweaked the colors and texture in PS2
My goal in the piece was to try and use fine whispy lines to mimic the graceful qualities of sumi and then tone it so it would appear like an old parchment or scroll. I added my OCD nature of detail and voila! I think it works...enjoy!
judges: a larger version is available on request in the required size.
Also, your style of drawing makes the scene appear more... wild, and more realistic in its own right. I like it; its a different take on the Okami theme than what I usually see online. Its like something you would see on a tapestry in a temple somewhere, depicting a legendary encounter. It makes the world of Okami seem more real! Great work weshoyot!
Say, can I use it for a school project of mine ? I would credit you for the image in the project.
In short, I need to make a poster of a game or movie released after 2004, but in the style of the Golden Age (1976-1989). I have plans to make a poster about a 8-bit NES version of Okami, and your image would make a nice addition to it. If you want, I can send you the final image for you to approve it. [I could also add links to your accounts, like DeviantArt, in the credits.]
Thank you for your time, and keep up the good work.
Cheers,
WebJiCi
P.S. OKAMI ROCKS ! ESPECIALLY IN MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 ! AMMY FTW !
